Wednesday is one of New York's most popular holidays St. Patrick's Day. The holiday is the celebration of the patron saint of Ireland, St. Patrick and is most visibly celebrated by the St. Patrick's Day Parade. The parade is going to start on 44th Street and Fifth Avenue at around 11am, march up Fifth Avenue past St. Patrick's Cathedral, pass the reviewing stand on 64th Street and Fifth Avenue, and continue on up Fifth Avenue all the way to 86th Street where the parade will end by 5pm. The best viewing spots for the parade are usually above 66th Street as most people crowd in around St. Patrick's Cathedral. If you can get there early enough the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art provide a great location to see the parade. Remember, contrary to popular belief, the public consumption of alcohol is strictly prohibited and the NYPD will be out in force to enforce those rules.
