Dance Theatre of Harlem School
Dance Theatre of Harlem's School was founded by former New York City Ballet principal, Arthur Mitchell. As the official school of the Dance Theatre of Harlem, the studio promotes self-discipline and dedication. Students can chose to enter the Pre-Professional Program (ages 7-17) by means of auditioning, and build a foundation for advancement in ballet. For students wishing to pursue careers in ballet, the Professional Program is to be completed within a minimum of 3 years and full-time attendance is required. Moreover, a Summer Intensive Program is offered to students of all ages wishing to train in ballet within a 6-8 week course of study. The Dance Theatre of Harlem School also offers scholarships to students based on merit, but one can apply for financial assistance through other government programs.
